Summary: Span, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and organized Senior Services Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality services to older adults. This role involves assisting with daily program operations, coordinating activities, providing direct support to seniors, and ensuring a welcoming and safe environment. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in serving the senior community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent; one – two years related administrative experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bi-lingual a plus.
Required Licensing:
Must have and be able to maintain a valid Texas State Driver’s License.
Key Skills and Abilities:
Able to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and to understand instructions in a variety of formats.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English). Pays attention to detail.
Able to speak effectively and comfortably to individuals and groups of people in a variety of mediums (i.e. in person, on the phone, and through email).
Able to handle stressful situations and remain calm when dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.
Consistently exercises good judgment.
Good project and time management skills. Able to work independently with little direct supervision.
Knowledge of and ability to use a GPS Guidance system. Ability to interpret maps and directions in a way that promotes efficient route and time management.
Ability to grasp mathematical concepts on a level conducive to tasks such as creating reports and manipulating data.
Able to develop and maintain professional relationships with volunteers, employees, and the community.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, database management, the internet, and electronic e-mail. Able to learn and adapt to other software used in the position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
Primarily in an office environment, which can be loud with many distractions. Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions. Driving sometimes required. Climbing in and out of vehicle and entering and exiting client homes, while navigating a variety of potential obstacles. Employee may be exposed to patterns of lights and darkness normally experienced while driving (i.e. traffic lights, headlights, shadows, etc.).
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is regularly required to sit and may have extended periods of using a telephone, computer and other electronic devices. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds. The vision requirements include: ability to adjust focus, depth perception, peripheral vision, distance vision and close vision.
