Our client is seeking a Project Manager for a new road bypass project based on the East Coast of the North Island. With a value of around $35m, this project will take around 2 years to complete and includes 2 bridge structures and a section of road.


Reporting to the Regional Manager, you'll manage the project from start to completion, with a mix of self-perform and subbies.


Relocation and accommodation will be provided and a generous salary package circa $200k + vehicle with completion bonus is on offer.


Your role will include:


  • Project Planning & Execution: Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of civil construction projects. Develop project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensure adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor project teams, including site supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture across the team.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships, address any concerns, and ensure clear and consistent communication throughout the project.
  • Budget Management & Cost Control: Prepare detailed project budgets and manage costs to achieve financial targets. Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement effective risk management strategies. Develop contingency plans and take proactive measures to mitigate issues before they impact project delivery.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Promote a safety-first culture on all job sites. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and relevant industry regulations. Lead by example in maintaining high safety standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure all projects meet quality standards and client expectations. Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Track project progress, prepare regular monthly reports, and communicate updates to senior management. Utilise project management tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust plans as necessary.
